Travelling to Balearic Islands by Rail

On Mallorca a narrow-gauge train (http://trendesoller.com) runs from Palma to Sóller, and a tram runs from Sóller to the port of Sóller. InterRail passes are not valid. There are no railways on any of the other islands.

Main ports: Palma, Mahón and Ciutadella. Cruise ships also moor at Ibiza Town.

Trasmediterránea (www.trasmediterranea.es) operate car ferries from Barcelona and Valencia.

Baleria also runs ferries from Ibiza to Formentera, as does Trasmapi (www.trasmapi.com) (journey time - 30 to 40 minutes).

Corsica & Sardinia Ferries (www.corsica-ferries.co.uk) operates a car ferry route between Toulon (France) and Mallorca (journey time - 11 hours.)
